You argue the case… and the file keeps the record

A lawyer’s work in Murafe revolves around their cases: they see the day’s hearings, record each hearing’s decision so that the next one is created, follow their memoranda from writing to filing, record the judgment so that the system proposes the last day to appeal, reply to clients through their portal message box, and call on colleagues in the case team’s chat.

What the lawyer sees on opening the system

Murafe — Lawyer

  • Today’s and upcoming hearings

Your hearings and their times in the agenda, and in “Hearings” the day’s roll sorted by court and time.

  • Deadlines to watch

Appeal deadlines and last days for grievances in your cases, with an alert a week and then two days before each.

  • Memorandum filing dates

An alert reaches you, as the lawyer assigned to the work or as the reviewer, whenever a filing date draws near.

  • Your clients’ messages

What your clients send from the client portal about their cases reaches you as an alert and appears in the case file concerned.

  • A client’s ID expiring

An alert before the QID of a client in your cases expires, so you ask for a copy of the new card in good time.

  • Team chats

Your colleagues’ instant messages with the unread count, and a device notification even when the system is closed.

Six daily tasks… in one place

  1. Recording the hearing decision

Picks a ready-made phrase or writes what happened, and sets the hearing’s status, the date of the next one and what it requires; the next hearing is created automatically.

  2. Notifying the client

From the case file, sends the client what happened by WhatsApp or email, from a template or as a free-form message, after previewing the text; in “WhatsApp link” mode, WhatsApp opens on the lawyer’s device with the message ready.

  3. Following the memorandum

Follows their memoranda from draft to review to filing, records the actual filing date, and uploads the final file to the case documents.

  4. Recording the judgment

Enters its date, type, operative part and the amount awarded, reviews the last day to appeal that the system proposes and changes it if needed, and in the same step changes the case status to “Judgment issued” and notifies the client.

  5. Opening the next degree

Opens the appeal, cassation or execution from the case file, and the client, the opponents, the subject and the case team move into the new file.

  6. A delegation letter for a colleague

Issues the delegation letter filled in from the case file, completes the floor, the roll number and the requests, and leaves the “Court’s decision” box for the colleague who attends.

Example permissions for the lawyer

An example only: every office sets the permissions of each role for each section (view, add, edit, delete, print), and can grant them to a particular employee or withhold them.

SectionAccessNote
Cases and hearingsLimitedCases assigned to them or whose case team they are on: adding, editing, hearings and judgments, but not deleting.
ClientsLimitedViewing clients, adding a client and editing their details; deleting stays with management.
DocumentsLimitedUploading and viewing documents; downloading as the office decides.
Forms and approvalsLimitedFilling in and printing the service request and the expense request, without the finance department’s or senior management’s permissions.
Accounts and vouchersNo accessAgreements and vouchers are hidden from them in this example; they can see service and consultation fees through a separate permission.
Office expensesNo accessKept for management and the accountant.
StatisticsLimitedIf granted, the figures are calculated within the scope of their own cases only.
Audit logNo accessSeen by whoever management chooses.

For the lawyer to work with less effort

  • Record the hearing decision on your phone before you leave the court: the next hearing and its reminders are built on that decision.

  • Mark the hearing “Visible to client” when appropriate, so the client gets its reminder by email or WhatsApp without you having to call.

  • For sensitive documents, choose “Specific people only” when uploading, so no one else sees them, even on the case team.

  • Press “/” for global search: a case number, a QID number or a phone number is enough to open the file without browsing the lists.

Questions about the lawyer role

Because the screen shows cases within your permissions: those assigned to you or whose case team you belong to, or all the office’s cases if you have been given that permission. Confidential cases need a special permission or membership of their team. If you need a file outside your scope, ask to be added to its case team.

Murafe proposes the last day to appeal from the judgment’s date, its litigation degree and the type of case, according to the periods set in Settings → Appeal periods, and shows the route of appeal and its period beneath it. But you review the date and change it by hand or with the quick buttons, and legal responsibility for it stays with the office.

You get an alert as the responsible lawyer, and the message appears in “Messages and notifications” and in the case file if it concerns that case. When you open it, it is marked as read under your name and the client sees that the office has read it; you then reply with the “Reply to client” button.

Yes. The system runs in the phone’s browser and installs as an app, so you open the file, record the decision and view documents from the court corridor. Turn on “Remember me” on your personal phone only; the system signs you out automatically if the phone stays unused for longer than the period the office sets.
